“Sinhala and Tamil New Year” is a Sri Lankan holiday that celebrates the traditional New Year of the Sinhalese people in SriLanka. It is a major anniversary celebrated by not only Sinhalese people but by most Sri Lankans.
Loyola college primary section is looking forward for the big day “30th April 2019”. It will be the Sinhala and Tamil New Year celebration of the college. This day is a more celebrity day for the kids of grade one to five (1-5). As one of a Catholic school the main purpose of celebrating this festival is to give a bit of knowledge to the student about the “Dawn Customs and Traditions” follows on this festival.
Dawn of the Sinhala and Tamil New Year is celebrated with splendor and rituals. The transition of the sun from the house of Pisces to the house of Aries marks the beginning of Aluth Avurudu. This is symbolized to the students with speeches or else dances on this day.
Different customs and traditions as Punyakalaya, preparation of meal, Communicating work, Transactions and Partaking of meals. Anointing the head.etc: are shown to the kids of two elderly persons. Here we symbolize the harmony of a family. At the moment teachers, parents, students are well preparing and organizing to make this day a more memorable event. We hope to make this day more colourful with some beautiful dances, games, songs, etc. The college primary section celebrate this event very specially this is one of the outstanding event of the college. The closure of this day will be marked with a dance of all kids of the primary section and also reading of the vote of thanks of the college rector.
