The Story of the College

Loyola College, Bopitiya, was officially started at the church premises of St. Nicholas church on 15th January 2003. This was a collective effort of the Archdiocese of Colombo and T.O.R. Franciscans. It was also culmination of the long waited dream of most Rev. Dr. Oswald Gomis the Arch bishop of Colombo and very Rev. Fr. Neville Fernando T.O.R. the minister provincial of the T.O.R. Franciscans.

This college is a branch school of Loyola College, Negombo. It is directly attached to the office of the catholic school general manager. Its management is owned by T.O.R. Franciscan Fathers. It is a mixed school.

Loyola College, Bopitiya, was started with the purpose of giving catholic education to the students of costlal belt. This is the only catholic school in the educational zone of Ja-ela. The age of college is only ten years. But she maintains her standard as the most popular school of the area.

College Rules

General
  1. School commences at 7.25 a.m. and all students should be present on time and remain in school till the end of the session.
  2. Leave of Absence from school should be notified in the Record Book by the parents or guardians accompanied by a medical certificate if it is more than 5 school days.
  3. Prior permission should be obtained from Rev.Fr. Rector for travelling abroad and for any public performances

Boys
  • Grades 1 – 10 White Shirts and Navy Blue Shorts
  • Grades 11 – 13 White Shirts and White Slacks
  • Grades 1 – 13 White socks / Black shoes / Pocket Badge
  • Mondays and Special occasions - White long sleeves shirt
  • White Shorts / White slacks
  1. The school dress code should be strictly adhered to.

Girls

  • Grades 1 – 13 White school uniform / 4 box pleats / 2 in front and 2 behind & black shoes / white socks / ties and pockets (With school initials on left side).
  • Students are very strictly prohibited to bring any video games, discs. Cassettes video movies, mobile phones and bad literature to school.
  • Every student should possess a student Record Book and bring it daily to school for identification. The loss of this book should be notified to the respective Sectional Head.
  • Students should be at their best behaviour inside and outside the school to maintain the dignity of the College. Smoking, alcohol or any other addictions are strictly prohibited for students.
Parents/Guardians

  • Please read the above rules carefully ensure that your son / daughter follow them
  • Respective Sectional Head should be notified in case of contacting a student during school hours
  • Teachers will avail themselves at P.T.A. meetings and on every 1st Thursday from 12.00 p.m. to 1.00 p.m
  • Parents are kindly requested to clad in decent dress(saree) when they enter the college premises
